It'll Be Okay - The Ascension of Our Lord

"But the LORD is in his holy temple; let all the earth keep silence before him." (Habakkuk 2:20 ESV)

"Shhh. It'll be okay. Mommy's here." What comforting words for a child whose world just turned painful and frightening due to the latest tricycle mishap.

"Shhh. It'll be okay. 'The LORD is in his holy temple.'" The Ascension of our Lord comforts us in a painful and frightening world--when our lives become turned upside down in the latest mishap. Jesus ascended into heaven to sit at the right hand of God and to send His Holy Spirit to be with us. But He also ascended into the throne room of God to take charge of His Kingdom! Jesus not only lives, He lives and reigns!

"Shhh. It'll be okay." Jesus is in charge! He works His will even as the nations of the world defy it. He does so for the sake of His people. Victory over evil and sin and death is not a hope; it's a reality! Our triumphant and risen Savior ascends into heaven and rules as the victorious King of all.

Ascension Day is a good day to be silent and listen to our King. He calls us to engage the darkness of our culture with the light of His Good News. He calls us to do so in the certain hope of victory. He's in charge. It'll be okay!
