What you can expect:

Held in conjunction with the 2013 National March for Life (which will observe the 40th anniversary of the passing of Roe v. Wade) this ground breaking conference will:

• Focus on pro-life advocacy both at the national and local level
• Provide encouragement and solid theological motivation—along with practical know-how—to help Lutherans become more vocal about pro-life issues.
• Teach LCMS members how to exercise their vocation as citizens by becoming involved in the governmental processes of our country.

The end goal? Providing encouragement and solid theological motivation—along with practical know-how—to help Lutherans become more vocal about pro-life issues. In addition, LCMS members will learn how to exercise their vocation as citizens by becoming involved in the governmental processes of our country.

Conference Speakers

• LCMS President Rev. Dr. Matthew C. Harrison
• Dr. Robert Benne, author of Good and Bad Ways to Speak about Religion and Politics
• Mollie Hemingway, journalist and blogger
• Many other Lutheran presenters actively involved in professional pro-life political action and advocacy.

The conference will include a special youth track for high school and college age participants!

National March for Life

Participants also are encouraged to attend the National March for Life the day prior to the conference. The march, which protests the legalization of abortion and advocates for life, is held annually, and hundreds of thousands from across the country attend.

Before the National March for Life, the 2013 conference attendees will gather for Divine Service, hosted by Immanuel Lutheran Church in Alexandria, Va. The group will then proceed together to the National Mall in Washington D.C. to take part in the day’s events. This will be an unprecedented opportunity for worship and fellowship, a chance to experience what our Life Together in Christ really means.

“We have an individual vocation as citizens and Christians to speak for those who can’t speak for themselves, but we don’t always know how,” says Maggie Karner, director of LCMS Life and Health Ministries. “This conference will serve as a primer for how best to speak about the sanctity of life both as a church and as individuals.”
