Russell E. Saltzman has been pastor of Ruskin Heights Lutheran Church (ELCA), in Kansas City, Missouri, since February 2000. He was ordained July 20, 1980. He is a graduate of Missouri Valley College (1970), Marshall, Missouri, and Trinity Lutheran Seminary (1980), Columbus, Ohio. Prior to coming to RHLC he served parishes in Nebraska, Illinois, and South Carolina. He is a native of Olathe, Kansas.

Rev. Saltzman is a "second career" pastor. Before entering seminary he had a career in journalism as a newspaper reporter and in politics. From 1973 to 1976 he was deputy secretary of state of Kansas and before that a press secretary for a U.S. Congressman in Washington D.C.
