Did you know that life is a “cool thing”? Don’t take my word for it. Read this letter I received from a Lutheran elementary student.

Dear Pastor Lamb,

Thank you so much for coming and talking to us about life. I know now that life is a very cool thing. The saying, “A person’s a person no matter how small,” is really true. Once again, thank you so much for coming. I really appreciate it.

Love, Teresa

Did you know that this letter could have been written to you? I present to hundreds of students like this every year, but people like you make it possible. And I hope you realize that a gift to LFL does more than pay for my travel expenses. In this case, you helped touch Teresa’s heart. Her thinking about life and the value of life rose a few notches. Or maybe she had never really thought about it before. But now she “gets it”! Life is a cool thing! That will stick with her. Now multiply this by hundreds! That’s what your gift can do.

So if you want to help more children like Teresa know life is a cool thing, I invite you to send in a gift of whatever amount you are able to give. You can help more people “get it”!

Life is a Cool Thing Because of God
Of course, you need to know that it really wasn’t you or me who touched Teresa’s heart. The Holy Spirit did that. What led Teresa to understand life is a cool thing was sharing with her what God has done that gives each and every life—no matter how small—value, meaning, and purpose.

  • Life is a cool thing because God creates every life as His handmade masterpiece. “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well” (Psalm 139:13-14 NIV).

  • Life is cool thing because God has redeemed every life from sin. “He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world” (1 John 2:2).

  • Life is cool thing because God wants every life to have an eternal relationship with Him. “This is good and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth” (1 Timothy 2:3-4).

The Holy Spirit uses this Triune truth about the value of life to touch and change hearts. That must happen first before we can ever think about changing our culture. And that is what makes LFL unique among so many worthy pro-life groups. We’re about changing hearts. That’s why everything we say and do, everything we write and produce, everything we teach and present is based solidly upon the Word of God and centered in the life-changing message of the Gospel of Jesus.

If you desire to support organizations that seek to change laws and get pro-life people elected, I invite you to do so. These things are very important. But if you want to support a ministry that seeks to change hearts and connect the Gospel to the life issues, I invite you to send a gift.

Our Culture Doesn’t Get “Life is a Cool Thing”
Teresa “gets it.” So many in our culture could learn from her, like our president. I’m glad President Obama offered words of comfort and support to the people of Paris mourning the recent tragic attacks. I just wish he had used different words. Here is what he said:

“In the streets of Paris, the world’s seen once again what terrorists stand for. They have nothing to offer but hatred and human suffering. And we stand for freedom and hope and dignity for all human beings.”

I guess he forgot about the “no matter how small” part and the 2800 human beings and U.S. citizens who have their freedom and hope and dignity stripped away from them through elective abortion every day in our country. We shred these innocent babies through suction tubes, we cut them up with curettes, and poison them with drugs. We call it “a choice,” “a right,” or “removing the products of conception.” When terrorists murder the innocent, though, we call it “barbaric,” “cowardly,” and “horrific.”

I guess he also forgot about the freedom, hope, and dignity we strip from women when we tell them the only choice they have for a crisis pregnancy is to have someone kill their baby. Then we abandon these women and ignore or deny their regret and grief.

By the way, LFL does not abandon them. We have a national hot line dedicated to helping women and men struggling in the aftermath of an abortion decision. We offer help and healing centered in the hope and forgiveness of the Gospel. (Word of Hope; www.word-of-hope.org; 888.217.8679)

I am not just picking on President Obama. This twisted irony represents so many problems in our culture. We need more children like Teresa out there!

That’s how LFL desires to influence the culture. We equip the church to produce more children like Teresa! We equip the church to apply God’s Word to the life issues and change people’s hearts. Changed people will bring change to our culture.

So when you help us equip more Teresas, you help, little by little, to bring us back to being a society that truly does think life is a very cool thing, no matter how small!

So, I ask again for your support. Any gift of any amount will be helpful. I thank you in advance for your generous support. And remember, your life is a very cool thing too! (Along with your financial support, we ask for your daily prayers for the Gospel-centered ministry of LFL.)
